'Mind your business': Britney Spears slams paparazzi with new single

When Britney Spears said 'hit me baby one more time', she definitely wasn't talking about pap shots or articles.

In her latest career move, the pop icon collaborated with Will.i.am, releasing their newest, and quite clearly pointed single Mind Your Business on Friday, July 21, at midnight.

The lyrics make a clear hit at paparazzi, with the star singing, "They follow me, follow me, follow me / Follow, follow me / Uptown, downtown / Everywhere I turn around / Hollywood, London / Snap, snap is the sound."

The song also features a range of threats such as "sending the dogs out" if the paparazzi known for harassing the star for decades don't "mind [their] business".

Elsewhere in the lyrics, the duo appear to address the feeling of paranoia attached to being watched, with Spears repeatedly posing the questions "Where she at?" and "what she do?".

"Too much watchy watchy, watching me watching watching you," Will.i.am sings.

The single was only announced on Monday this week after Will.i.am, 48, took to Twitter to surprise fans with the news.

"UH OH!!! @britneyspears…" he captioned a teaser clip of the song.

This isn't the Black Eyed Peas frontman and Toxic singer's first rodeo, with the duo previously working together on hits including Big Fat Bass, Scream & Shout and Work B-tch.

The most recent single however marks Spears' second musical release since the termination of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021.

Last year the singer released a duet with Elton John titled Hold Me Closer, a hit that became her first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in nearly a decade.

The release of Mind Your Business comes a week after Spears announced a new memoir, The Woman in Me will be hitting shelves worldwide on October 24, according to People.

"Britney's compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery," Jennifer Bergstrom, who is the senior vice president and publisher of publishing house Gallery Books, told the outlet at the time.

"I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact – and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn't be more proud to help her share her story at last," Bergstrom continued.

The memoir had been rumoured to have been in the works following , when a Los Angeles judge freed her from a restrictive conservatorship after .

It's billed to reveal "for the first time her incredible journey [and] strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history," according to a press release from the publishing house.
