Britney Spears' close circle planned intervention amid growing fears 'she's gonna die'

Those closest to Britney Spears were reportedly planning an intervention due to growing concerns for her mental health and wellbeing. 

However, they apparently scrapped their plans at the eleventh hour after the 41-year-old singer became aware of the situation.

In recent months, the pop star has alarmed her nearest and dearest with a spate of bizarre Instagram posts, and this past Tuesday her husband Sam Asghari, manager, an interventionist and doctors were to confront the star about her worrying behaviour, according to TMZ.

"I'm afraid she's gonna die," a source told the outlet of Spears, who they claim stopped taking medications that help stabilise her mood and therefore has been "flying off the handle" on social media and behind closed doors. 

TMZ reported that Spears' manager rented a house in LA for several months, where the intervention was due to take place. They had hoped she would stay at the house for at least two months to recover and receive psychological counselling and medical treatments.

But their plan was apparently foiled by the singer. She reportedly agreed to see a doctor and attended an appointment on Wednesday, when it was concluded an intervention would be "unnecessary" after the appointment "went well".

"Unfortunately, there is a lot of hysteria in the media right now, but Britney is fine, and much of this has been overblown and grossly distorted," a source told Page Six.

Spears' immediate family – dad Jamie Spears, mum Lynne Spears sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, and her two sons, Sean and Jayden Federline – were reportedly not a part of the plan.

The intervention news comes one month after the singer raised eyebrows over her erratic behaviour when she and Asghari, 28, dined at Woodland Hills restaurant.

According to TMZ, who posted footage of the incident, the pop star became "manic" and yelled "gibberish" at her table while dining at the establishment, which caused her husband to up and leave.
