Adele fights back tears after winning album of the year at BRIT Awards
Chart-topping superstar Adele has won album of the year for her record 30 at the 2022 BRIT Awards, wrapping up a triumphant night.
During the ceremony on Tuesday night (Wednesday morning AEDT), the London-born singer fought back tears in an emotional acceptance speech, thanking her young son and her ex-husband.
"I'd like to dedicate this award to my son, and to Simon, to his dad," Adele said, referring to her ex-husband Simon Konecki.

Adele also won artist of the year and song of the year for 'Easy On Me'. ITV
"This album was all of our journey, not just mine."
"I'm very proud of myself for sticking to my guns and putting out an album that was about something that was so personal to me [because] not many people would do stuff like that anymore," she added.
The 33-year-old also won artist of the year, a now genderless category in which rappers Little Simz and Dave, as well as singers Ed Sheeran and Sam Fender, were also nominated.

Adele also won song of the year for 'Easy On Me'.
"It's always a pleasure to be here," she said as she accepted the award. "I always love coming home and the Brits is such a big part of my career from way back when I was a little... a little fetus."

Adele was nominated for four awards, including Best Artist and Album of the Year for her latest, titled 30.
Known for her songs about heartbreak and nostalgia, Adele has said she made 30 to explain her divorce to her young son, Angelo.
Adele and Konecki began dating in 2011 and welcomed Angelo the following year. They tied the knot in a secret 2016 ceremony, with Adele publicly addressing the wedding for the first time during an acceptance speech at the 2017 Grammys.

In September 2019, after announcing in April that she and the charity entrepreneur were separating after three years of marriage, Adele filed for divorce and their court documents were finalised on March 4, 2021.
As of July 2021, Adele is in a relationship with Rich Paul, 40. The couple seemingly confirmed their romance after going Instagram official in September last year.
