Brad Pitt is 58 as of Friday, December 18, but the forever heartthrob won't be enjoying a big birthday bash.

A source tells People the Moneyball actor would be keeping things low-key after a tough year in lockdown and while he continues to juggle his custody situation with ex Angelina Jolie.

"He plans to have a low-key birthday. Just sort of hanging out," the source says.

They added: "He's staying low-key in general. That's really the kind of guy he is anyway, it's a natural time for reflection for him."

The source also says Pitt was looking forward to 2022 after a difficult year in and out of lockdowns.

"It was a challenging year for everybody with COVID and filming amidst that," they say.

Pitt's ongoing custody battle with Jolie has made the last year all the more stressful.

"The situation with the kids is still a difficult situation," says the source. "It sucks. It is what it is. His kids matter the most to him. But there are just processes you have to go through."

The custody situation has been drawn out since Pitt and Jolie's split in 2016. Recently, a source confirmed to Us Weekly that Pitt hopes to one day be on better terms with his ex-wife, saying the actor "hates all the bad blood."

The pair were declared legally single in 2019, but are still ironing out custody details for their minor children Pax, 18, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 13. The couple also share a 20-year-old son, Maddox.

In June this year, Pitt was awarded joint custody of their children, which reportedly did not sit well with Jolie so they are still negotiating the terms.

Jolie's harsh stance against Brad comes from claims she "feared for her family" while married to Pitt. She has alleged Pitt was "verbally abusive and physical" with their adopted son Maddox during a flight on their private plane.

For Pitt, he maintains a strong network around him while the battle unfolds.

"He is genuinely beloved," the source to People says. "People really like him, and he does have a strong circle supporting him."
