Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt reportedly agree to extend their custody agreement

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have agreed to play nice -- well, for the next few weeks at least.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Hollywood's former golden couple have reached an interim custody agreement for the next month while an evaluator gathers all the required information to properly assess their custody case.

Although specific details have not been released, sources told the site that Pitt, 54, and Jolie, 43, had scheduled a custody hearing in front of a judge recently. But this was scrapped after they agreed to the temporary terms regarding their six children, Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 10.

"The interim arrangement was agreed upon by both parties after it was recommended by their custody evaluator," said the source. "There was no longer a need for the hearing."

The latest development comes after Jolie and the kids returned to LA from London, where they were staying while she filmed Maleficent 2. Until a permanent order is in place, the source said Jolie and Pitt are trying to be "amicable for the children," and this has been made easier now that they're back home.

"Angelina is enjoying the last few days of summer before school starts," said the source. "She is helping the children heal with their father."
