Aussie influencer’s health update after fighting brain infection in Bali hospital
Australian fitness influencer Khiana Smith, 23, has shared an encouraging health update after being hospitalised in Bali with a potentially deadly brain infection.
The Gold Coast local was admitted nearly two weeks ago with bacterial meningitis and was bed bound for days as she was treated for it and pneumonia.

In a series of new updates, Smith revealed she spent five days in the ICU and developed a rash from the humidity while stuck in hospital.
She also claimed to have contracted ‘Bali belly’ from before she was finally discharged from hospital yesterday.
“Guys, we are alive! We’re alive, out of hospital, we are feeling so much better,” Smith said in a video shared to TikTok on Wednesday.
“Still really slow and weak, it’s going to be a long road to recovery [but] we’re so happy to be out of hospital and to be OK.”
Sadly, Smith has been told she won’t be able to fly home to Australia until next week at the earliest.
She spent 10 days in hospital fighting a brain infection and pneumonia, which left her dizzy, weak, and unable to stand or walk on her own for more than a week.
She also suffered brain fog and memory loss during her ordeal.
Smith said she plans to stay put in Bali and focus on her health until she’s cleared to fly home and continue her recovery in Australia.

“What a roller coaster that was. Grateful to be out and healthy,” she said on TikTok.
“The next few weeks will seriously just be about getting my health back and just looking after myself.”
The influencer thanked her almost 100,000 combined social media followers for their messages of love and support during her hospitalisation.
Smith kept the positivity going on Instagram, where she has been sharing fitness content and travel snaps from before her Bali holiday was derailed.
In another TikTok post, she urged her followers not to take their health for granted.

“Life really is that precious and anything can happen,” she wrote over a photo of herself in a hospital bed.
“Take this as your sign to never take your health/life for granted because you literally never know what could happen tomorrow.
“I’m grateful to be young and healthy enough to fight this and this experience will hold a huge part in my life forever.”
