Angelina Jolie has spoken candidly about her dating life for the first time since her divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016.

In a new interview for her upcoming film Couture, Jolie revealed she hasn’t dated since the divorce, but that could be about to change as she finds herself wanting to “live again”.

“To be candid, I haven’t dated since I divorced a decade ago,” she told Yahoo Entertainment.

“So I kind of get in my head that that aspect of me is not centred in my life if I’m focusing on my children, my family.”

Jolie said she is reexamining her priorities, adding that things are changing in a way she didn’t expect.

“It doesn’t feel like I’m 51 and starting to think of being older. I’m thinking I have to live again. Be free again,” she said.

“In a way that maybe life has broken me a little bit.”

Jolie and Pitt tied the knot in August 2014 in one of the most high-profile relationships Hollywood has ever seen.

Jolie filed for divorce on September 20, 2016, and after an eight-year legal battle, the divorce was finalised in 2024.

The couple shares six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne, almost all of whom are estranged from Pitt.

Five of the six children have chosen to publicly drop “Pitt” from their last name. Pax is the only one who still goes by the hyphenated “Jolie-Pitt” surname.

In the interview, Jolie said that she is starting to slowly become “the person I used to be,” attributing part of that effort to her children.

“I think in some way they’re bringing me back to my old self. My desire for them to have all of the strength and openness and softness and faith and ferocity is reminding me,” she said.

“I think they kind of want me now to not just be ‘mum.’ There’s a different room for me to be that woman again, that’s not just a mum.”

Watching her daughters become women, Jolie said things have been put into perspective in terms of what is truly important.

“I’m discovering something now that my daughters are older. They’re talking to me as young women, and I’m seeing what I want for them,” she said.

“I’m seeing what I don’t want them to lose and what I want them to hold on to. And it’s kind of reminding me what I may have lost.”
