Adele debuts her new single in a way fans were not expecting

Adele took to Instagram Adele took to Instagram to the world, in an Instagram first for the recording artist — and to the surprise and delight of fans.

The 33-year-old 'Rolling In The Deep' singer lingered on IG live for nearly an hour and, like us all, experienced a few technical difficulties while trying to add fans to the call.

As the IG live continued, Adele teased fans with a one-minute snippet of her highly anticipated single 'Easy On Me'.

The singer lingered on IG live for an hour, chatting to fans about her new album, 30. Instagram: Adele

Fans caught some of the lyrics, "There ain't no good in this river that I've been washing my hands in forever / And there is hope in these waters, but I can't bring myself to swim when I am drowning".

The performer also spilled some details about her upcoming album, 30, revealing that it is "dropping soon".

The unexpected virtual Q&A gave fans a rare chance to ask the singer questions about her upcoming album.

Answering one fan's question, Adele joked, "What's my next album going to be based on? Divorce, babe. Divorce!"

The singer also quashed rumours of a possible Beyonce and Adele collaboration.

"I'm not making a song with Beyonce. I don't know why so many of you are asking that," she said.

The telling Q&A comes after Adele revealed her struggles with mental health after divorcing ex-husband, Simon Konecki, in 2019.

The singer and Konecki share nine-year-old son Angelo and still live down the street from one another.

Opening up about her experience with divorce to Vogue, she explained "I was just going through the motions and I wasn't happy, neither of us did anything wrong. Neither of us hurt each other or anything like that. It was just: I want my son to see me really love, and be loved. It's really important to me."

She added, "I've been on my journey to find my true happiness ever since."

Adele, who is the November cover star of Vogue, spoke about the happiness she has found with new boyfriend, sports agent Rich Paul.

She revealed that the pair were good friends for a while before they started officially dating, telling Vogue "He was always there, I just didn't see him."

When asked how the two met she explained, "I was a bit drunk. I said: Do you want to sign me? I'm an athlete now. He's just so f---ing funny."
