Reality star Abbie Chatfield says nuclear war simulation TikTok videos 'make a game' of conflict

Abbie Chatfield has spoken out about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, condemning TikTok videos that simulate nuclear war as "trauma porn."

TikTok users' For You Pages have been flooded with videos showing computer simulations of how a nucelar bomb could destroy a city, with many creators responding to user requests to show what would happen to specific cities should they be hit.

In a series of Instagram Story videos shared last night, the 26-year-old It's A Lot with Abbie Chatfield podcast host said the videos are "horrible" and "make a game" of conflict. Watch above.

"I have been seeing people on TikTok do like, nuclear bomb simulators and be like, this is what would happen if a nuke were to hit Sydney," the Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield radio host said.

"Or this this is what would happen if a nuke were to hit Kyiv. I don't know if my anxiety is high about what is happening in Ukraine, but like, is that helping anyone?

"Maybe people think it's interesting, but it honestly sends me into a genuine spiral. Maybe I am being a bit over-reactionary."

The Bachelor alum then said that the videos seem "really insensitive" and like they are "making a game out of a very serious conflict that is happening."

"It's giving very much trauma porn. Like if you were anywhere in Sydney, evaporated, done. Who is that helping?"

Chatfield then implored her followers to stop posting videos like such, calling them "horrific what ifs."

Chatfield's followers largely agreed with her, with one writing that the videos are "so f--ked, genuinely makes me feel ill."

Another wrote: "Plus feels really insensitive like? Sydney is not going to be nuked."

"I think that people need to f--king read the room," another said.

Meanwhile, dozens of A-Listers are speaking out about the conflict, including Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, who pledged to donate up to US$1 million to the United Nations Refugee Agency in support of Ukrainians forced to flee their war-torn homeland.
