Cat deeply confused by frozen fishpond

It isn’t often we’d be envious of a goldfish living in a dirty pond, but we’re in a strange position where we wouldn’t mind being one.

Not because we’ve been hit hard by the cinderblock to the face that is Monday, and that being a goldfish would mean not having to conform to the norms requiring us to wear shoes and be productive.

But the reason is no less immature.

It’s because we’d really get a thrill out of ticking off this cat.

The feline took to this frozen pond in the US state of Maryland, hoping to catch a fish.

But thanks to the frozen surface of the pond, there was a protective barrier between predator and prey.

And that meant prey was in a position to torment predator.

By the looks of the fish’s movements around the pond, it would be fair to say this cheeky fellow knew exactly what it was doing.

We reckon it darted from one side to the other just to tick the cat off, which would have been quite a laugh.

No word on whether the cat managed to get its claws on the fish, once the ice melted, but we like to think this particular fish was too smart to be captured.
