Paramedics called to stage during escapologist’s water stunt
Well this is intense.
Escapologist Matt Johnson gave everyone quite a scare when he appeared on Britain’s Got Talent on Monday night.
He was trying to free his himself from some extremely restrictive kit – a box filled with water on his head, bound by a locked metal vest.
It looked like Mad Max channeling Ned Kelly:

And we thought sweaty sports bras were bad.
Old mate gave himself one minute and 45 seconds to open the box, telling judges that after that time make, there was a high chance he could die.
No pressure.

So when time ticked over the safety mark, paramedics started closing in on the stage.
They were ready to pounce.
People were freaking out.
Meanwhile, Johnson was scrambling to unpick the locks, determined to free himself/breathe again.
Thankfully, he managed to avoid drowning live on air and the whole audience gasped a sigh of relief.
The commentary on Twitter was also quite entertaining:

But even though he nearly died in his stunt, it wasn’t enough to put him through to the next round.
Maybe it was because no one wanted to see how much further he would push it at the finals – this was stressful enough.
