Baby elephant and giraffe become pals after rescue

What's cuter than an orphaned baby animal getting a new lease on life? TWO orphaned baby animals playing with each other and totally loving life!  

Kiko the giraffe and Loboito the elephant are new best friends, having recently arrived at The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Nairobi Nursery after being rescued from the wilderness.

Newborn giraffe Kiko was found motherless and alone on the outskirts of Meru National Park in Kenya on the 19th of September. Rescuers assumed humans were responsible for incident, citing "human wildlife conflict" as the reason why he was abandoned.

Baby elephant Loboito was found alone, with no sign of family, by herders in Samburu, Kenya on October 1.  The herders at Samburu contacted Save The Elephants who arranged for Loboito to be airlifted to The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Orphanage in Nairobi that same day.

Loboito's name means "the only one" and was given to the little elephant by Gabriel Leparioyo, the warden at the Samburu National Reserve.  

"Live long Loboito!!!" Save The Elephants wrote on their Facebook page, with pictures of the rescue and a promise to post updates of the orphan's recovery.

After just days at the nursery, carers say both animals have settled in well and are getting the best care possible.
