Woman orders felt hats online, ends up with illegal meds made with scorpion venom

This is perhaps the weirdest parcel mix up story we’ve ever heard.

Californian journo Meagan Day thought she was buying a bunch of hats from Amazon, and ended up with something completely different.

And, well, we better let her tell you.

Woah.

Day’s tweets about this little mix up/international illegal poison shipping ring sting obviously went viral, clocking up more than 25,000 likes between the two of them and being featured on the Twitter moments feed.

She said she “just wanted to schvitz in style” but she ended up giving us a plot for one heck of a daytime TV movie.

And if one of the questions you had after reading this was “what in the heck is a sauna hat?”, we can at least hook you up there.

We Googled “sauna hat” and found out that this is actually a thing.

According to a blog post from a Russian-style sauna in the US, a felt hat is an “important accessory when steaming”.

“The air in the sauna may be up to 90 degrees Celsius, but a felt hat will keep the air around your head at a comfortable temperature.”

Apparently the felt keeps the head dry, cool and prevents hair damage from the heat. 

Huh.
