Woman's married name 'too suggestive' for Facebook

A newly married woman has been prevented from updating her profile on Facebook because the social network deemed her married name "too suggestive".

After returning home from her honeymoon, US woman Melinda Kiss Flecker tried to update her profile page from her maiden name, Melinda Kiss.

But Facebook would not accept her new name, with a message popping up telling her: "We require everyone to use their real name on Facebook".

Ms Kiss Flecker had to email a picture of her driver's licence as proof of her new identity, because Facebook believed her name was "too suggestive".

Facebook has now accepted the New York assistant district attorney's new name.

It's not the first time the internet has disapproved of Ms Kiss Flecker's name.

She had to send an appeal to Google+ because her name did not comply with their policy.
