It is fast becoming one of the most popular games in the world and since its introduction only last week, Pokémon Go has seen shares in Nintendo gain $7.5 billion in just two days.

The virtual reality game, which sees players walk around real-life neighbourhoods to catch virtual Pokémon characters on their smartphones, is now on more Android phones in the US than dating app Tinder.

Reuters reports investors are cheering after Nintendo’s shares surged by a quarter in value on Monday to their highest level since November.

They have gained 36 percent since Thursday’s market close.

The game has shot to the top of free rankings in Apple’s US iTunes store, and it is installed on more than 5 percent of Android devices in the country.

Pokémon Go has been released in the United States, Australia and in New Zealand, with Japan set to get it soon.
