Kids swap physical therapy for ‘hero training’ with new prosthetics

A British robotics company has created bionic hands for children with artwork inspired by their favourite heroes.

Open Bionics has launched the range of prosthetics inspired by Marvel’s Iron Man, Queen Elsa from Disney’s Frozen and Star Wars’ Jedis.

The company, based in Bristol in England, said the new range was designed to get kids excited about their prosthetics so boring physical therapy would become hero training.

The project is led by Joel Gibbard who is behind the Open Hand Project, using 3D printing technology to make prosthetics more affordable.

The company hopes to release more designs soon.
