Another Aussie company has been hit by a cybersecurity breach, with more than 1600 customers of telco Dodo and iPrimus being impacted by a data breach of the company's email and mobile services.

The hack, which occurred on Friday, was announced yesterday by Vocus, the parent company of Dodo and iPrimus.

"Our initial investigation has revealed unauthorised access to approximately 1600 Dodo email accounts, leading to unauthorised SIM swaps on 34 Dodo Mobile accounts," a spokesperson from Vocus told 9news.com.au.

"We have worked with impacted customers to reverse these SIM swaps and we continue to monitor this situation."

Email services were temporarily suspended by the company, the spokesperson said.

A website monitoring mobile network and website outages on Saturday showed a spike of impacted Dodo customers, with 30 reports lodged by midday.

Vocus said they had restored email services for customers on Sunday morning.

"We continue to update our customers through our website and social media channels and will be offering additional support to our customers through IDCare," Vocus said.

"We are continuing to monitor and have notified authorities of this incident."

It is the latest cybersecurity issue to hit an Aussie company; last week Qantas confirmed the data of up to 5.7 million customers had been exposed on the dark web.

In August, fellow telco iiNet admitted the data of around 280,000 customers m,ay have been stolen after a cybersecurity breach in the company's order management system.

Dodo also becomes the latest telco to be hit by scandal, with Optus still reeling from its catastrophic triple zero outage that led to the deaths of three people.

As a result, millions of Optus customers are now considering leaving the telco, plunging it into further crisis after years of turmoil.
