Independent South Australian candidate ‘dishonours’ WWII vets: Family First

South Australia’s political establishment has the knives out for Independent candidate Dan Woodyatt in the fight for the seat of Fisher, with accusations flying that his band The Spooks dishonoured WWII veterans.

Family First MP Robert Brokenshire took offence to the film clip for the band's track Down the Beach, which he says disrespects veterans, including his own father.

“I find it inappropriate and offensive, that's me personally, others can judge for themselves,” he said.

Mr Woodyatt said Mr Brokenshire’s stance was fueled by political considerations.

“The lyrics are about an ex-girlfriend who's infatuated with her previous lover,” he said.

“I just play drums on it.”

But Mr Woodyatt still boasts the endorsement of former MP Bob Such’s widow, Lyn, and his staff.
