Pedestrian airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by car

A man has been flown to hospital after being struck by a car north of Wollongong overnight. 

The 64-year-old was crossing Park Road in Woonona at 7.45pm when he was hit by a blue sedan.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics, before being airlifted to St George Hospital with serious head, chest and neck injuries.

The man remains in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the sedan, a 53-year-old man, was uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. 

Officers from Wollongong Police District attended and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
