Man charged after woman dies in alleged hit and run in Geelong

A Truganina man has been charged following a fatal hit and run in Corio last night.

A 45-year-old woman died when she was struck by a car on the Princes Highway in Corio just after 10pm.

The 23-year-old driver of the car, who allegedly failed to stop at the scene, was later arrested. 

He will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Detectives said they have been told the victim was at a nearby roadside diner with a shirtless man prior to being struck.

Police have yet to identify that man and are urging him to come forward.
