Woman charged after domestic violence assault in Newcastle

A woman has been charged over an alleged domestic violence-related assault at a home in the Newcastle suburb of Lambton.

Police said an argument took place between a 36-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman in a home on Young Road about 1am today.

Police alleged the man was stabbed in the arm during the argument.

He was treated at the scene before being transported to John Hunter Hospital, and his injury is not considered life-threatening.

Police arrested a 29-year-old woman and charged her with reckless wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court later this month.
