Wild police chase causes carnage in Brisbane’s south

A wild police chase across Brisbane’s south has come to a dramatic end, as officers tried to catch two fugitives on the run.

A stolen Holden Commodore was spotted by police in Calamvale and officers deployed spikes to burst the car’s tyres.

The vehicle then gave chase, serving onto the wrong side of the road before veering into the cycle path, with sparks streaming from the tyres before it ran out of fuel and stopped.

The two inside – a 33-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man – tried to escape but police caught them.

“They had him on the floor and they were arresting him,” a witness told 9NEWS.

“There was just a lot of commotion and lights.”

The man has been charged with five serious offences including driving without a licence and his female passenger is expected to be charged tomorrow.
