'Wet and stormy' weekend in store for millions across Australia
A "wet and stormy weekend" lies ahead, with multiple states facing the possibility of severe storms and heavy rain in coming days.
Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said heavy falls recorded in Queensland and New South Wales yesterday showed no signs of stopping, while other states could also expect increased moisture.
Storms and showers covered parts of inland Queensland, eastern New South Wales, far eastern Victoria, and northern Tasmania yesterday.

Falls of up to 55mm were recorded in Queensland, while in parts of NSW, totals of 40mm to 60mm in just 30 minutes were seen.
The rain was enough to trigger flash flooding in some areas.
Today, a cloud band extending across eastern Australia will bring humidity, scattered rain, and thunderstorms.

Falls and potential storms in Queensland will again mostly be seen inland, with just a shower or two expected for Brisbane, Bradbury said.
In NSW, thunderstorms and widespread rain are expected for the Sydney metro area, Central Coast, Hunter, and inland regions.
There's a risk of flash flooding and severe thunderstorms in Sydney.

Victoria could see isolated storms through the north and east, with some rain for Melbourne this morning.
On Saturday, Bradbury said, a fresh burst of moisture across eastern Australia will drive more rain and storms for NSW, Queensland, Victoria, and South Australia, with storms possible in all state capitals, as well as Canberra.
"There's no real break from the wet weather until sometime next week," Bradbury said.
