Australians are being warned of potential unseasonal floods as a massive rain band continues to sweep across the country.

The 3000km band is set to cross over Queensland in the coming days after dry-season rain in the Northern Territory and Western Australia earlier in the week.

Potentially record rainfalls are anticipated for the Sunshine State.

But the Bureau of Meteorology says the threat of wild weather is restricted to Queensland's south-east.

Temperatures are also likely to plunge in the state next week, with the Granite Belt and the Darling Downs looking at sub-zero condition.

It comes after dry-season rains in northern Australia prompted flood warnings in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, including some road closures in the Kimberleys.
