'400 mattresses' go up in flames in massive tip fire

Fire crews have battled an out-of-control blaze at a recycling plant in Melbourne's east.

9NEWS understands at least 400 mattresses went up in flames just after 5pm in Wantirna South.

At least 70 firefighters were called in to battle the blaze.

Emergency services said there is no threat to the community.
