Second sinkhole in three days opens up in Newcastle
A second sinkhole has opened in a Newcastle suburb just three days after the first forced residents out of their homes.
The sinkhole opened up in Wallsend, NSW, on Tuesday, displacing a dozen residents and forcing the suburb's Diggers club to close.
On Saturday, a different sinkhole opened up just one kilometre up the road, also forcing out the residents in the surrounding area.

Wallsend Diggers Club said the most recent sinkhole caused $3 million in damage to its bowling green.
The Mine Subsidence Advisory of New South Wales is currently investigating both sinkholes and has closed multiple streets in the surrounding area.
Sinkholes are naturally occurring, and open up when the rock below the earth's surface has suffered water erosion to the point where it is unable to support the land above it.
