'Kind-hearted' uncle killed when car hits Uber in Brisbane

The sister of a man who was killed when the Uber he was in was hit by another car said he was the best uncle and little brother anyone could ask for.

Ryan Grafton, 30, was died this morning in a horror Brisbane crash.

He was an innocent passenger in an Uber when police allege a man in a stolen car ran a red light and ploughed into the rideshare car at high speed.

The crash happened on Boundary Road at Wacol in the city's south-west.

"He was a big, kind-hearted person who loved his family," his sister Lauren told 9News

"I'll remember him adoring my niece and my daughter. He loved her more than anything."

Mr Grafton was in the car with his friend Amelia Vinden, 26, and Uber driver Hussein Ali Mohamed, 46, when they were T-boned at 2.15am by the driver of a stolen Ford Mondeo.

Both the others are in a stable condition in hospital.

Instead of stopping to help the driver ran away in what police have described as a "despicable act".

Police have launched a full-scale search.

They're confident they know who they're looking for - but are urging that person to hand themselves in.

Police will allege the car was stolen in the early hours of yesterday morning, with the driver's movements from that moment to the crash the centre of the investigation.

While the vehicle involved was a Ford Mondeo, the licence plates were registered to a Holden Barina.

Police are appealing for dashcam footage or any other information.

Uber has been contacted for comment.
