A whale carcass has washed up on a beach in Western Australia's South West region, sparking a warning over sharks in the area.

The whale was found at the northern end of Yallingup beach on Wednesday morning.

The carcass was removed by the Department of Parks and Wildlife, which warned sharks could be attracted to the area for the next few days.
