The emotional moment it took shark attack survivor Sean Pollard years to have

Three and a half years after a shark attack took Sean Pollard’s arm and hand, he’s finally been able to say thank you to the Royal Flying Doctor nurse who saved his life.

Fiona Dickson was on shift in October 2014 when the electrician was attacked by a great white shark at Kelpie’s beach, near Esperance in Western Australia.

Badly injured and losing blood, Mr Pollard was rushed to Esperance Hospital and then flown to Perth, where it took almost 200 stitches and staples to close his wounds.

Now, Mr Pollard has been reunited with Ms Dickson for the first time since she helped save his life.

This was the first time that the survivor felt comfortable enough to see the plane that saved him and thank the Royal Flying Doctor crew.

“It’s kind of come full circle now, so it’s cool to come back,” Mr Pollard said.

“This is the first step of me getting better, so this is where it all started really.”

And it’s been quite a recovery. The 26-year-old competed at the Winter Paralympic games in snowboarding earlier this year.

As for the flight that saved his life, he clearly remembers what he said when the nurse asked him what he had for breakfast.

“Some Dorritos,” he said with a chuckle.
