Bushfire warning issued for outskirts of Perth as Christmas heatwave beckons
Residents of several suburbs in Perth's fringes are being urged to be on high alert for a bushfire that is threatening lives and homes.
A watch and act warning has been put in place for residents of Herne Hill, Red Hill and Jane Brook as an out-of-control fire continues to burn in the area.
Areas under the warning include areas bounded by Toodyay Road, Adams Road, Peechey Road and Taafe Road.

The bushfire is currently burning through an area adjacent to John Forrest National Park, and whilst there has been no official evacuation warning, authorities say this could change.
"You may need to act quickly so ensure you are prepared if the situation gets worse," EmergencyWA said on their official website.
"If you plan to stay and defend, ensure you are mentally and physically prepared, with protective clothing and an independent water supply."

The warning comes as temperatures in Perth rise above 30 degrees, with a heatwave set to strike the city in the coming days.
Temperatures will soar to 40 degrees on Christmas Eve, whilst Perth will swelter on Christmas Day, with the maximum temperature being 41 degrees.
Despite this, the Bureau of Meteorology has not issued any official weather warnings for Perth in the coming days.
Another bushfire in the Herne Hill and Red Hill area has been downgraded to advice level, with no threats to lives or homes.
