A West Australian man accused of glassing a transit officer in the face on a Perth-bound train has been refused bail in court.

The 22-year-old was on the Armadale line when he became aggressive towards two transit officers.

Police allege he smashed a bottle of alcohol on a metal pole and then used it to strike a male officer in the face during a struggle.

Members of the public helped keep the man under control before he was removed from the train at the Victoria Park train station.

The transit officer was treated for a laceration at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

The 22-year-old was charged with assaulting a public officer and appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday morning where he was remanded in custody.

He will reappear in court on Wednesday.
