A 40-year-old Perth man will have to undergo painful surgery this week after being allegedly attacked by a group of teenagers in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He says he woke up at about 12:30am to a group of teens knocking on his door in East Cannington, which told him someone had been murdered outside on the street.

When he went to investigate he saw teenagers fighting. He says four of them then turned on him when he told them he was going to call the police.

The security vision technician says he was hit from behind and then kicked while he lay on the ground.

His 29-year-old partner was also attacked when she threw herself on top of him to protect him.

He spent yesterday in hospital being treated for a broken ankle which is fractured in six places.

Police have charged four teenagers over the alleged assault. They were arrested 50 metres from the victim’s Crawford Street home.
