A man has been charged over a crash that killed a motorbike rider and injured five people in Perth's north.

Police say the man was driving and collided with the motorbike and four other cars that were stationary at the intersection of Hodges Drive and Caridean Street, Heathridge, around 3.20pm on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to Joondalup Health Campus where he died a short time later, and the other five drivers were treated for minor injuries.

WA's road toll already stands at four for this year, after two fatal crashes on New Year's Day and one on Monday.

Last year's state road toll was the worst in eight years, with 194 deaths compared to 161 in 2015.
