The body of a man has been found inside a burned-out vehicle in a major bushfire zone in Western Australia.

WA's Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said the discovery was made at Mt Gibson on Wednesday afternoon, after crews has been called to the area to assist in fire relief the previous day.

A spokeswoman for WA Police said the Arson Squad had determined the cause of the blaze was not suspicious.

The deceased man's role within the fire ground and the circumstances leading up to his death will form part of an investigation, police say.

It's understood that some 800 hectares of land had been ravaged by fire at Mt Gibson, which is about 450 kilometres north-east of Perth.

DFES listed the cause of the fire as lightning.

Personal details relating to the man have not yet been public.
