Man who allegedly shot at cops faces trial

A West Australian man who was shot in the stomach during a scuffle with police will face trial charged with intending to unlawfully kill one of the officers.
Russell Graham Penny appeared in the West Australian Supreme Court on Thursday via video link from prison accused of shooting at police in November 2013.
Police allege Penny became aggressive towards the officers after they pulled him over on the Albany Highway in Crossman.

Penny allegedly shot at one of them, so the other policeman fired his weapon, wounding Penny in the stomach.
His five-day trial begins on October 27.
