Man to face trial over brother's WA murder

An 18-year-old man accused of murdering his brother at a house in Western Australia's south will stand trial.

Sonny Poutu allegedly killed Tamahere Jerry Moana-Ngakete Tumai, 24, at a property in Jerramungup on April 20.

Pouto, from Newdegate, faced Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court via video link from Albany prison on Wednesday and entered a not guilty plea.

He was remanded in custody and will face the WA Supreme Court on February 10.

Their mother Parewaikato Paula Tumai was in New Zealand at the time of her son's death and expressed her grief on Facebook.

"You were supposed to be there when I returned, I was coming back to you ... Watch over my son please my daddy," she wrote.
