Man charged over umpire assault in WA

A football spectator allegedly verbally abused an umpire and then punched him during the grand final of an amateur Australian rules game in Western Australia's South West region.
The 24-year-old victim was hit in the face at the match between the Eaton Boomers and Carey Park in South Bunbury on Sunday.
A 25-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and will appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court on October 5.

It followed an incident on Friday night when a 24-year-old man was charged with assaulting a mother in front of her children during the Dockers loss to Hawthorn in the AFL preliminary final.
