Man admits teen indecent assault on WA bus

A 20-year-old man has admitted indecently assaulting a teenager on a bus in Perth's north.

Lachlan Corney sat next to the 18-year-old woman and touched her inappropriately after striking up a conversation at a bus stop on June 3.

The woman was too afraid to inform the bus driver and instead phoned her family, who contacted police and Transperth security.

The bus driver was swiftly informed and saw Corney following the victim after she got off the bus in Ellenbrook, so he drove it up next to her and asked her to get back inside.

The driver then locked the doors, leaving Corney standing outside.

Corney, who police say followed the victim on and off several buses before the incident, fled the scene.

But they searched a home in Westminster on Monday and arrested him, charging him with unlawful and indecent assault.

He appeared in Midland Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty and was granted bail with a personal undertaking.

Corney is due to face a sentencing in Perth Magistrates Court on September 19.
