Student convicted of one punch attack fails to have sentence reduced

A former Princeton University student convicted of a one punch attack at a Perth nightclub has lost a fight to have his sentence reduced.

Joshua Billington appealed his nine month sentence over the assault on Mitch Davis outside the Niche Bar in August.

Mr Davis was knocked unconscious in the unprovoked attack.

He suffered a bleed on the brain and required eight staples to the back of his head.

Outside court the victim’s father said he hoped Billington, who’s never personally apologised, will use the time to reflect on what he’s done.

He was released on bail after launching the appeal but was taken into custody this morning after a Supreme Court judge dismissed his claim.

He will be eligible for parole.
