WA bushfire threat downgraded
A bushfire burning east of Perth is no longer threatening lives or homes.
A watch and act alert has been downgraded to an advice for people in Malebelling near Mannavale Road, Quellington Road and Caljie Road, east of York.
"There is no threat to lives or homes, but there is a lot of smoke in the area," the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said.
"Although there is no immediate danger, you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes."
The fire started on Quellington Road and is still burning southeast of Malebelling.
DFES says the blaze is contained but not yet under control, and firefighters are working to strengthen containment lines.
The bushfire was started by accident and has so far burnt about 40 hectares.
