Convicted murderer Francis Wark will appeal against his guilty verdict over the death of 17-year-old Hayley Dodd who went missing in 1999.

Documents were lodged with Western Australia's Court of Appeal on Monday seeking to overturn Wark's conviction last month in the Supreme Court by a judge sitting without a jury.

Wark, who was already in jail in Queensland for rape, was jailed for life with a minimum of 21 years for murdering Hayley after luring her into a ute on a road near rural Badgingarra while she was hitchhiking.
