Court deems Yindjibarndi board invalid
AAP
The board of an Aboriginal corporation in Western Australia's Pilbara region has been deemed invalid by the state's Supreme Court and a special administrator may be appointed.
The legal action against Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation was launched by John Sandy, a director of break-away native title claimant group Wirlu-murra.
Judge Rene Le Miere ruled on Wednesday that a board meeting and the resolutions it carried last year were invalid and ordered the matter be handed to the Registrar of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations to take action.
