Charges after boy, 9, hit in Perth park

A 47-year-old man accused of hitting a nine-year-old boy in the face has been charged with assault.

The charge comes after police released a video of a man seen walking down a street near the Perth park where the incident occurred.

The boy and his brother were playing at the Barry Britton Reserve in Balga on Monday afternoon when they were approached by the stranger.

As the boys walked away, the man allegedly grabbed the nine-year-old by the arm and struck him on the side of his head.

The boy screamed and the man ran away, police say.

He will appear in court at a later date on a charge of aggravated common assault.
