Murder charge after deadly Perth brawl

A woman has been charged with murder after a 17-year-old boy was allegedly mowed down by a car during a brawl in Perth.

The 20-year-old has also been charged with four counts of attempting to kill another 17-year-old and three 16-year-old boys.

Detectives are investigating what happened at a park in Canning Vale and outside a fast-food restaurant at Livingston Marketplace on Thursday afternoon.

Two people were stabbed during the fight, with one suffering serious injuries, and police said five people were in hospital.

The brawl started when two groups of people from schools in Mandurah and Canning Vale gathered for what was supposed to be an arranged fight between two boys.

It began outside a Dan Murphy's store, spilt into a McDonald's restaurant car park where the stabbings occurred and continued in nearby suburban streets.

Police were called about 3.15pm.

About an hour later, the car drove into the group of four teenage boys, who were connected to the brawl.

The 17-year-old Baldivis boy went through a windscreen and died in hospital a short time later.

Detective Sergeant Matt Lewis said a dispute between two young people had escalated to something far worse and had also involved family members.

"People obviously got angry, their blood got up and things obviously went way too far," he told ABC radio.

He said police were examining CCTV and phone footage and urged people with information to come forward.

Canning Vale College teachers and staff held an emergency meeting on Friday morning.
