Body of Perth wildlife worker to come home

Efforts are underway to repatriate the body of a Perth man believed murdered in Zimbabwe.

Greg Gibbard was a co-founder of wildlife charity Painted Dog Conservation Inc, which works to conserve the endangered African Wild Dog.

According to media reports, he had lived in Zimbabwe for five years and was attacked at his home near the Hwange National Park last week.

"We're working with the government to repatriate his body back to Perth," colleague and co-founder John Lemon told Fairfax radio on Monday.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to Mr Gibbard's family.
