Parent 'forgot' baby rescued from hot car in Perth

A 14-month-old boy has been rescued from a hot car in Perth's northeast after a parent "forgot" he was inside.

Officers had to smash a window to free the baby just after 9.30am at a shopping centre car park in Ellenbrook.

The temperature in Perth at the time was about 36C.

Although the child was crying and sweating, he did not need to be taken to hospital and another family member arrived soon after to support the parent and boy.

"It was established the parent had genuinely forgotten the child was left in the vehicle at the time and no charges will be preferred by police," a spokeswoman said.
