All-clear ends Pilbara bushfire alert

A bushfire that threatened the Pilbara mining town of Tom Price has been brought under control 12 days after it started.

The blaze has burnt through 75,000 hectares since being reported on September 16.

A watch and act alert was issued for Tom Price and the western part of Karijini National Park in the middle of last week, but the all-clear was given on Sunday.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said local firefighters worked tirelessly and were assisted by relief crews.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
