AFP dog squad helps seize cash, drugs

Four-legged crime fighters have helped the Australian Federal Police seize more than $660,000 in cash and quantities of drugs this year.
The canine teams were deployed on 3592 occasions across Australia, primarily at airport sites.
During that time, $669,160 in cash was seized as well as more than 2kg of cannabis, 1.3kg of methamphetamine and 1057 ecstasy tablets.

Federal justice minister Michael Kennan said the K-9 team's impressive skills were crucial in cracking down on the illicit drug market, which remained the principle source of profit for organised crime.
