WA communities want cashless welfare card

The federal government is considering a wider rollout of its cashless welfare debit card as more communities express interest.
Assistant minister to the prime minister Alan Tudge says the government will trial the card in three locations but is receiving requests for its introduction from council and community leaders across Western Australia.
"Offering the card to other regions would be a logical next step, beginning with those West Australian locations that have already shown initial support," he wrote in The Australian on Wednesday.
