Nine’s Grand Slammer has made a ferocious debut during the Melbourne State Election coverage, knocking out winners and losers one after another.

The Labor party mastered the art of dodging tennis balls, with Jordan Crugnale from Bass and Will Fowles from Burwood among those claiming victory behind the net … and in their electorate.

Tony Jones took the Grand Slammer for a go.

Stephen John McGhie from Melton also delivered a great forehand, as did South Barwon candidate Darren Cheeseman.

The Coalition weren't so lucky, with Bryan Paynter from Bass and South Barwon Andrew Katos struck down by the Slammer.

In an earlier test run this afternoon, Alicia Loxley claimed victory over fellow panel host Tony Jones, hitting the tennis ball with a swift forehand; TJ was knocked out.
